Wall-Plaque by Bertil Vallien U.S.A.
early 1960s
Bertil Vallien, today one of Europe's preeminent artists in glass, began as a very promising ceramist. After studying under Stig Lindberg at the Swedish National College of Art in Stockholm, Vallien travelled in 1961 to California for a fellowship working at the studio of Los Angeles ceramist Hal Fromhold. It was during this period (1961-1963) that Bertil Vallien's work began to attract critical praise, and during which this beautiful piece was made.
